How we researched this guide
We compared 5 verified cabin air filters for the GMC Sierra, checked maker and listing specifications for each one, and reviewed owner and fitment context from parts catalogues and Sierra owner manuals. Every pick carries a verified Amazon ASIN from this guide’s research notes, and no pick is included on a part number alone.
One warning runs through the whole guide: GMC Sierra is not one filter. Different generations use different filters, and the five picks here belong to the CF11966 family for newer trucks. Match year, trim and old filter before ordering, and run the Amazon fit checker for your exact truck.
The 30-second answer
For most owners of a 2019 to 2023 Sierra 1500 or a 2020 to 2023 Sierra 2500 HD or 3500 HD, the Bosch 6091C HEPA filter is the best overall pick. The ACDelco CF185 and CF184 are the original-equipment options in the same family, with different GM part numbers that must not be merged. The RVgolf CF11966 2-pack is the verified carbon option, and the KHAWY CF11966 is the everyday aftermarket single. Older Sierras need the fitment table first.
Best Overall
Bosch 6091C HEPA Cabin Air Filter
Best if you want the strongest maker-stated filtration claim in this guide for a newer Sierra, with a clearly printed year range and HEPA media, but no added chemical odor neutralizer.
Best OE Option
ACDelco GM Original Equipment CF185 Cabin Air Filter
Best if you want an original-equipment filter carrying GM part number 13508023, in the same CF11966 family as the Bosch pick.
Best OE Alternative
ACDelco GM Original Equipment CF184 Cabin Air Filter
Best if your truck calls for GM part number 13356914 rather than 13508023, since the two ACDelco numbers are distinct and must not be swapped on assumption.
Best Carbon Option
RVgolf CF11966 2-Pack HEPA Cabin Air Filter with Activated Carbon
Best if you want the only verified carbon option in this guide, sold as a 2-pack, for a 2019 to 2025 Sierra as stated in its listing.
Best Everyday Aftermarket Pick
KHAWY CF11966 Cabin Air Filter
Best if you want a straightforward aftermarket single filter in HEPA and paper media for a 2019 to 2023 Sierra 1500 or a 2020 to 2023 HD truck.
Quick compare: the five Sierra cabin filters at a glance
Use this table to narrow the field, then check the fitment table below before you commit.

| ACDelco CF184 | OE; charcoal not confirmed | CF11966 family | Single | |
| RVgolf CF11966 | HEPA plus activated carbon | Sierra 2019 to 2025 | 2-pack | |
| KHAWY CF11966 | HEPA and paper | 1500 2019 to 2023; HD 2020 to 2023 | Single |
Sierra cabin filter finder
Enter your Sierra model year and pick your truck type. This finder routes by the year ranges stated in the research for this guide. It is not a substitute for the Amazon fit checker or for comparing your old filter, and out-of-range years are routed to the parent guide rather than to a filter that may not fit.
How to choose a cabin air filter for your GMC Sierra
Choosing well here is mostly about avoiding one mistake: ordering a good filter for the wrong truck.
Match the generation first, the brand second
Sierra generations use different filters, so year and model decide the filter family before any brand comparison begins. The five picks here belong to the CF11966 family for newer trucks, while 2014 to 2018 Sierra 1500 trucks and 2015 to 2019 HD trucks use the CF188 family instead.
Match the part number, not just the family name
Within the CF11966 family, the Bosch listing names OEM numbers 13356914, 13356916 and 13508023, and the two ACDelco picks carry different numbers inside that set. The CF185 carries 13508023 and the CF184 carries 13356914, and no source here says one supersedes the other.
Decide whether carbon matters to you
Only one pick here is a verified carbon option: the RVgolf CF11966 2-pack, which pairs HEPA media with activated carbon. The Bosch 6091C explicitly states it provides clean air without an added chemical odor neutralizer, and charcoal is unconfirmed for both ACDelco picks.
Weigh original equipment against aftermarket
ACDelco describes its filters as true original-equipment parts installed during GM vehicle production, which appeals to owners who want the factory specification. Aftermarket picks instead compete on stated media, pack quantity and printed year ranges.
Check dimensions against your old filter
Dimensions in this guide vary by listing, and that variation is itself a warning. The Bosch listing gives one size, the KHAWY listing another, and the ACDelco listings give larger figures that may reflect package size. Pull the old filter out and measure it before ordering.
Follow the interval in your owner’s manual
Bosch listing wording says to replace every 12 months or 12,000 miles, or per the owner’s manual, while ACDelco general guidance points to the manual and notes filters can last up to 50,000 miles, more often on dirt roads or in unclean areas. Your manual outranks any listing claim.
Sierra fitment by generation: which filter family your truck uses
This table is the heart of the guide. If your truck is not in the CF11966 rows, the five picks below are not your starting point, however well reviewed they may be elsewhere.
| Truck | Filter family | What this guide says | Source |
|---|---|---|---|
| Sierra 1500 2019 to 2023 | CF11966 family | Picks 1 to 5 apply, subject to fit checker | Bosch listing |
| Sierra 2500 HD and 3500 HD 2020 to 2023 | CF11966 family | Picks 1 to 5 apply, subject to fit checker | Bosch listing |
| Sierra 1500 2019 to 2025 | CF11966 family | RVgolf listing states this wider range | RVgolf listing |
| Sierra 1500 2014 to 2018; HD 2015 to 2019 | CF188, GM 22808781 | Not a pick: no verified ASIN found | NewParts listing |
| Sierra 1999 to 2002 range | K and N VF1000 family | Not a pick: no verified ASIN found | Retailer application summary |
| Sierra 2007 to 2013 | Often no factory filter | Retrofit context only, not a filter pick | Vehicle Service Pros report |
For the two ACDelco picks, read the fitment wording carefully. Their Amazon pages as fetched did not themselves print a year-by-year Sierra list; their fitment rests on the shared GM numbers, 13508023 for the CF185 and 13356914 for the CF184, both named by the Bosch listing for its stated Sierra fitment. This guide therefore uses family-fitment wording for both and still sends you to the fit checker.
Cabin filters by budget tier
This guide carries no prices, so the tiers below describe what you get for your money in general terms, not a price ranking. A single filter, a 2-pack and an original-equipment part sit in different tiers for reasons other than cost alone.
| Tier | What you get | Example pick |
|---|---|---|
| Everyday single | One aftermarket filter, HEPA and paper media | KHAWY CF11966 |
| Best overall single | HEPA media with the strongest stated efficiency claim | Bosch 6091C |
| Original equipment single | Factory-lineage part, distinct GM number per pick | ACDelco CF185 or CF184 |
| Carbon 2-pack | Two filters, HEPA plus activated carbon | RVgolf CF11966 2-pack |
Types of Sierra cabin filter in this guide
Three distinctions explain almost every difference between the five picks. Keep them separate, and the marketing language gets much easier to read.
| Type | What it means | Best for | Picks |
|---|---|---|---|
| HEPA particulate | Fine-particle media; Bosch rates 99.97 percent at 0.3 microns | Dust and pollen control | Bosch 6091C; KHAWY CF11966 |
| HEPA plus activated carbon | Particulate media plus a carbon layer | Owners who want a carbon layer | RVgolf CF11966 2-pack |
| Original equipment | ACDelco OE part for GM production vehicles | Owners who want the factory part | ACDelco CF185; CF184 |
| Paper and non-woven | Standard filter media as listed for OE and KHAWY | Routine replacement on schedule | ACDelco picks; KHAWY CF11966 |
Detailed reviews: the five verified Sierra cabin filters
Each review below follows the same order: why it is a pick, key specs as listed, fitment, pros and watch-outs, owner reports, who should not buy it, and what to pair it with. Specs are listing-stated throughout.
Best Overall: Bosch 6091C HEPA Cabin Air Filter
Best Overall — for newer Sierra owners who want the strongest stated filtration claim
Why the Bosch 6091C HEPA Cabin Air Filter is our pick
The Bosch 6091C is our best overall pick: a clearly printed Sierra year range plus a maker-stated HEPA efficiency figure. Its listing names Sierra 1500 trucks from 2019 to 2023, the 2022 Limited, and HD trucks from 2020 to 2023.
That completeness is why it leads the guide. Check it first for a newer Sierra, subject to the fit checker.
Bosch 6091C HEPA Cabin Air Filter key specs
- Part number: Bosch 6091C
- OEM part numbers listed: 13356914, 13356916, 13508023
- Media: HEPA, with melt-blown electrostatic layer and static cotton layer
- Filtration efficiency as listed: 99.97 percent at 0.3 microns
- Standards cited in listing: ISO 29463-3:2011 and ASTM D2986 in different crawls
- Construction: pleated, with structural ribs
- Materials as listed: foam, spunbound polyester, synthetic meltblown fibers
- Odor neutralizer: none added, as stated in the listing
- Amazon-listed dimensions: 9.65 x 8.27 x 1.38 inches
- Replacement guidance as listed: every 12 months or 12,000 miles, or per owner’s manual
- Location: behind the glove box
- Carbon or charcoal: not claimed; do not describe as a carbon filter
Bosch 6091C HEPA Cabin Air Filter: fits and best for
This filter fits the newer Sierra range its listing prints: Sierra 1500 from 2019 to 2023 including the 2022 Limited, and HD trucks from 2020 to 2023. Trim may still affect fitment, so the fit checker is required. It suits a newer Sierra owner who wants HEPA filtration without a carbon layer.
Bosch 6091C HEPA Cabin Air Filter pros and watch-outs
Pros
- Clearly printed Sierra year range for 1500 and HD trucks
- HEPA media with a stated 99.97 percent efficiency at 0.3 microns
- Layered construction with structural ribs as listed
- Plain replacement guidance tied to the owner’s manual
- OEM numbers printed, so cross-checking is straightforward
Watch-outs
- Not a carbon filter; no added chemical odor neutralizer
- Trim level may affect fitment even inside the stated years
- Listed dimensions should still be compared with the old filter
- Does not fit older Sierra generations
Bosch 6091C HEPA Cabin Air Filter: what owners report
Owner coverage on this listing is thin in Sierra-specific detail, so treat this as listing context, not a verdict. The listing carries owner-review videos showing a filter change on a related GM truck, and 2019 Sierra 1500 catalogue pages place the filter behind the glove box.
Bosch 6091C HEPA Cabin Air Filter: who should not buy
Do not buy this filter if your main goal is odor control through a carbon layer, because the listing explicitly says no chemical odor neutralizer is added. The RVgolf CF11966 2-pack is the verified carbon option instead, and this filter does not fit pre-2019 Sierras.
Bosch 6091C HEPA Cabin Air Filter: pair it with
Pair it with the RVgolf CF11966 2-pack as a spare in the same family, with carbon included.

Tip: photograph the part number on your old filter, then match it against 13356914, 13356916 or 13508023. See our maintenance checklist guide.
Best OE Option: ACDelco GM Original Equipment CF185 Cabin Air Filter
Best OE Option — for owners who want the GM part number 13508023
Why the ACDelco GM Original Equipment CF185 Cabin Air Filter is our pick
The ACDelco CF185 is our original-equipment pick for owners who want the factory part. ACDelco describes its GM OE filters as true OE parts installed during GM production, and this filter carries GM part number 13508023, one of the OEM numbers the Bosch listing names for its Sierra fitment.
For an owner who trusts the factory specification above all else, that OE lineage is the whole case. Carbon buyers should look at the RVgolf pick instead.
ACDelco GM Original Equipment CF185 Cabin Air Filter key specs
- Part number: ACDelco CF185
- GM part number: 13508023
- Filter family: CF11966 family, via shared GM number
- Material as listed: paper
- OE description wording: dust and odor filter, multi-layered media
- Media construction wording: long media in non-woven material, compound media
- Item package quantity: 1
- Warranty as listed: 24 months, unlimited miles, limited warranty, parts only
- Amazon-listed dimensions: 13.5 x 10.5 x 1.3 inches, with caution below
- Charcoal or activated carbon: not confirmed in sources found
- Fitment method: family fitment plus fit checker, not a year list on its own page
- Replacement guidance: owner’s manual states intervals; up to 50,000 miles in ACDelco general guidance
ACDelco GM Original Equipment CF185 Cabin Air Filter: fits and best for
The CF185 fits through the CF11966 family: GM number 13508023 is one of the OEM numbers Bosch names for Sierra 1500 trucks from 2019 to 2023 and HD trucks from 2020 to 2023. That is the honest extent of the year claim, and the fit checker is still required.
ACDelco GM Original Equipment CF185 Cabin Air Filter pros and watch-outs
Pros
- Original-equipment part with GM number 13508023
- Clear single-unit quantity and printed warranty wording
- Multi-layered media described in OE catalogue wording
- Shares its OEM number with the Bosch pick’s stated Sierra fitment
Watch-outs
- Its own page did not print a year-by-year Sierra list
- Charcoal construction not confirmed; do not assume carbon
- Listed dimensions look like package size; compare with the old filter
- Distinct from the CF184; the two numbers must not be merged
ACDelco GM Original Equipment CF185 Cabin Air Filter: what owners report
Owner coverage specific to the CF185 in Sierra use is thin in the sources found, so this section stays short. Catalogue pages for 2020 and 2022 Sierra 1500 trucks list ACDelco OE filters with the dust-and-odor wording used above. Check the part number and fit checker first.
ACDelco GM Original Equipment CF185 Cabin Air Filter: who should not buy
Do not buy the CF185 if your truck calls for GM part number 13356914, because that is the CF184’s number. The ACDelco CF184 is the pick for that number, and neither ACDelco pick is a confirmed carbon filter.
ACDelco GM Original Equipment CF185 Cabin Air Filter: pair it with
Pair it with the Bosch 6091C as your comparison point in the same family.
We may earn a commission at no cost to you.
Tip: if the Amazon dimension looks far larger than your old filter, trust the old filter. See our maintenance checklist guide.
Best OE Alternative: ACDelco GM Original Equipment CF184 Cabin Air Filter
Best OE Alternative — for owners whose truck calls for GM part number 13356914
Why the ACDelco GM Original Equipment CF184 Cabin Air Filter is our pick
The ACDelco CF184 earns its own place for one reason: it is a distinct OE part number, not a duplicate of the CF185. It carries GM part number 13356914, while the CF185 carries 13508023, and no source here states that one supersedes the other.
Like the CF185, the CF184 is described in general ACDelco OE wording as a true OE production part. Owners who find 13356914 on their old filter should start here, and still run the fit checker.
ACDelco GM Original Equipment CF184 Cabin Air Filter key specs
- Part number: ACDelco CF184
- Manufacturer and OEM part number: 13356914
- Filter family: CF11966 family, via shared GM number
- Discontinuation status as listed: not discontinued by manufacturer
- Item weight as listed: 9.9 ounces
- Amazon-listed dimensions: 10 x 10 x 1.3 inches, with caution below
- OE wording: designed and engineered for GM vehicles; true OE part
- Charcoal or activated carbon: not confirmed in sources found
- Fitment method: family fitment plus fit checker, not a year list on its own page
- Supersession: no source found stating CF184 supersedes CF185 or vice versa
- Replacement guidance: owner’s manual states intervals
- Pack quantity: single filter as listed
ACDelco GM Original Equipment CF184 Cabin Air Filter: fits and best for
The CF184 fits through the CF11966 family through a different number: 13356914 is one of the OEM numbers Bosch names for Sierra 1500 trucks from 2019 to 2023 and HD trucks from 2020 to 2023. That family wording, plus the fit checker, is the correct claim.
ACDelco GM Original Equipment CF184 Cabin Air Filter pros and watch-outs
Pros
- Original-equipment part with GM number 13356914
- Kept distinct from the CF185, so the right number gets ordered
- Not discontinued by the manufacturer, as listed
- Shares its OEM number with the Bosch pick’s stated Sierra fitment
Watch-outs
- Its own page did not print a year-by-year Sierra list
- Charcoal construction not confirmed; do not assume carbon
- Listed dimensions need comparison with the old filter
- Must not be merged with or substituted for the CF185 on assumption
ACDelco GM Original Equipment CF184 Cabin Air Filter: what owners report
Owner coverage specific to the CF184 in Sierra use is thin in the sources found, and no narrative review is invented. Catalogue evidence shows ACDelco OE filters across the newer Sierra 1500 pages, with part-number discipline as the theme. Confirm 13356914 and run the fit checker.
ACDelco GM Original Equipment CF184 Cabin Air Filter: who should not buy
Do not buy the CF184 if your truck calls for GM part number 13508023, because that is the ACDelco CF185. It is also not a confirmed carbon filter; the RVgolf carbon 2-pack is the verified carbon pick.
ACDelco GM Original Equipment CF184 Cabin Air Filter: pair it with
Pair it with the Bosch 6091C for comparison: both name 13356914 among their OEM numbers.
We may earn a commission at no cost to you.
Tip: write both ACDelco numbers down before you shop, then cross off the one your truck does not use.
Best Carbon Option: RVgolf CF11966 2-Pack HEPA Cabin Air Filter with Activated Carbon
Best Carbon Option — the only verified carbon pick in this guide, sold as a 2-pack
Why the RVgolf CF11966 2-Pack HEPA Cabin Air Filter with Activated Carbon is our pick
The RVgolf CF11966 2-pack is our carbon pick: the only filter here whose listing verifies both HEPA media and activated carbon together, and the only 2-pack, so a spare is on hand for the next change.
Its stated Sierra range is also the widest in the guide, which is a benefit and a caution at once: the title states 2019 to 2025 but also carries an ambiguous 2026 wording. This guide states 2019 to 2025 and tells 2026 owners to verify.
RVgolf CF11966 2-Pack HEPA Cabin Air Filter with Activated Carbon key specs
- Part number: CF11966, as an aftermarket replacement
- Brand: RVgolf, not FRAM; do not label it FRAM
- Media: HEPA plus activated carbon
- Material as listed: activated carbon
- Quantity: 2 filters in the listing
- Stated Sierra fit: 2019 to 2025, per listing title
- 2026 wording: present in title but ambiguous; verify, do not assume
- Also listed for: Chevrolet Silverado in the same title range
- Listing-stated dimensions: 8.8 x 7.8 x 1.1 inches
- Conflicting family dimension elsewhere: 9.45 x 8.03 x 1.18 inches on another listing
- Dimension rule: compare with the old filter; do not treat one figure as exact
- Replaces: CF11966 family part numbers
RVgolf CF11966 2-Pack HEPA Cabin Air Filter with Activated Carbon: fits and best for
This filter fits Sierra trucks from 2019 to 2025 as stated in its listing title, extending two years beyond the Bosch and KHAWY listings. It suits an owner who wants a carbon layer and a spare filter ready, inside 2019 to 2025. It is not confirmed for a 2026 Sierra.
RVgolf CF11966 2-Pack HEPA Cabin Air Filter with Activated Carbon pros and watch-outs
Pros
- Only verified HEPA plus activated carbon pick in this guide
- 2-pack quantity, so a spare is ready for the next change
- Widest clearly stated Sierra range: 2019 to 2025
- Direct CF11966 replacement part number
Watch-outs
- 2026 title wording is ambiguous; 2026 owners must verify
- Dimensions conflict across listings; compare with the old filter
- Aftermarket brand, not an original-equipment part
- Carbon layer does not remove the need for scheduled replacement
RVgolf CF11966 2-Pack HEPA Cabin Air Filter with Activated Carbon: what owners report
Owner coverage specific to this RVgolf 2-pack in Sierra use is thin in the sources found, so no narrative verdict is claimed. Catalogue pages for the newer Sierra 1500 place the filter behind the glove box, and the manuals describe the same route.
RVgolf CF11966 2-Pack HEPA Cabin Air Filter with Activated Carbon: who should not buy
Do not buy this 2-pack if you need only a single filter, or if you want an original-equipment part; the ACDelco CF185 or ACDelco CF184 is the OE route. Do not buy it for a 2026 Sierra on title wording alone.
RVgolf CF11966 2-Pack HEPA Cabin Air Filter with Activated Carbon: pair it with
Pair it with the Bosch 6091C as the non-carbon comparison, so you can decide whether the carbon layer is worth it.
We may earn a commission at no cost to you.
Tip: when the 2-pack arrives, compare both filters with the old one before installing either.
Best Everyday Aftermarket Pick: KHAWY CF11966 Cabin Air Filter
Best Everyday Aftermarket Pick — a straightforward single filter for newer Sierras
Why the KHAWY CF11966 Cabin Air Filter is our pick
The KHAWY CF11966 is our everyday aftermarket pick: it states its job plainly and fits the same newer Sierra range as the Bosch pick. Its listing names Sierra 1500 trucks from 2019 to 2023 and HD trucks from 2020 to 2023, lists HEPA filter and paper as its material, and names the part numbers it replaces.
That plainness is the appeal: a single replacement filter for a newer Sierra, on schedule, with a printed year range and a clear part number.
KHAWY CF11966 Cabin Air Filter key specs
- Part number: CF11966
- Listing part number: HW00016A-US-01
- Material type as listed: HEPA filter and paper
- Replaces part numbers as listed: CF11966, 13356914, 13356916

KHAWY CF11966 Cabin Air Filter: fits and best for
This filter fits Sierra 1500 trucks from 2019 to 2023 and HD trucks from 2020 to 2023, as stated in its listing. It suits a newer Sierra owner who wants a routine single-filter replacement in HEPA and paper media, without a carbon layer.
KHAWY CF11966 Cabin Air Filter pros and watch-outs
Pros
- Clearly printed Sierra year range matching the Bosch pick
- HEPA and paper media stated plainly, with no overstated claim
- Replaced part numbers printed for easy cross-checking
- Single-filter quantity for a routine scheduled change
Watch-outs
- Carbon not claimed; do not buy it as a carbon filter
- Does not state 2024 or 2025 Sierra fitment
- Aftermarket brand, not an original-equipment part
- Dimensions still worth comparing with the old filter
KHAWY CF11966 Cabin Air Filter: what owners report
Owner coverage specific to this KHAWY filter in Sierra use is thin in the sources found, so no narrative verdict is claimed. The manuals describe a behind-the-glove-box replacement, and 2019 Sierra 1500 catalogue pages place the filter there.
KHAWY CF11966 Cabin Air Filter: who should not buy
Do not buy the KHAWY filter if you want a carbon layer, because carbon is not claimed for this listing; the RVgolf carbon 2-pack is the verified carbon pick. Do not buy it for a 2024 or 2025 Sierra on assumption either.
KHAWY CF11966 Cabin Air Filter: pair it with
Pair it with the Bosch 6091C as the HEPA comparison in the same year range.
We may earn a commission at no cost to you.
Tip: keep the KHAWY part number HW00016A-US-01 with your service notes.
Spec comparison: all five filters side by side
The tables below split the spec data so no table runs wide. Dimensions are listing-stated and conflict across listings, so they are printed with that warning rather than averaged into a single figure. No scores are given, because no filter here was put through a comparison test.

Fitment and installation basics
On the newer Sierra trucks covered here, the cabin filter sits behind the glove box. The 2019 Sierra 1500 manual procedure is to open the lower glove box door completely, press the sides inward, rotate the door downward, pull the filter-door lever, slide and remove the door, then remove the old filter. The 2019 HD manual instead describes removing four screws around the lower glove box, pulling the unit from its frame, releasing the two tabs on the service door, and then removing the old filter. Follow the procedure for your exact truck.
Before the new filter goes in, compare it with the old one: same outline, same thickness, same part-number family. Check the airflow arrow against your manual, and slide it in without forcing it; a filter that needs force is usually the wrong filter. Close the door fully, refit the glove box, and note the date and mileage. For logging small jobs, see our winch maintenance checklist, and for truck fitting work, see our guides to installing a winch on a truck and mounting a winch on a truck.
Safety essentials
Follow these six rules on every filter change, even a routine one.
- Work with the engine off and the ventilation system off, so the blower cannot start while the housing is open.
- Support the glove box door as you release it; do not let it drop on its hinges or wiring.
- Never force a filter into the housing. Forcing it can bend the media, break the door tabs, or leave a gap that lets unfiltered air past.
- Match the airflow arrow to your manual before closing the door, and recheck the seat if you hear whistling after refitting.
- Bag the old filter before carrying it through the cab, so trapped dust does not end up back in the interior.
- Do not run the truck for long periods with the filter removed. Dust and debris can enter the ventilation system and the blower area.

Troubleshooting
| Symptom | Likely cause | Fix |
|---|---|---|
| Weak airflow from vents | Clogged filter | Replace the filter; check the interval in your manual |
| Musty smell when ventilation starts | Old filter holding moisture and debris | Replace the filter; consider a carbon pick next time |
| Whistling after a change | Filter not seated or door not closed | Refit the filter, check the arrow, close the door fully |
| Rattling behind the glove box | Loose door, tabs or glove box fittings | Refit the door and screws; check the tabs are engaged |
| New filter will not fit | Wrong generation or part number | Stop; compare the old filter and recheck the fit checker |
| Dust still entering the cab | Gap from a poor seat or wrong size | Remove and refit; replace with the correct part number |
Who should NOT buy these filters
Owners of pre-2019 Sierras should not buy these five filters on the strength of this guide. A 2014 to 2018 Sierra 1500 or a 2015 to 2019 HD truck uses the CF188 family, and a 1999 to 2002 truck uses a different filter again. Ordering a CF11966-family filter for those trucks is a fitment error; start a generation-specific search from the Car Heating, Cooling and Comfort archive.
Owners of 2007 to 2013 Sierras should not assume their truck has a filter at all. Many trucks in this range shipped without a cabin filter, and a retrofit kit is a separate project from a filter swap. Read the retrofit context in the sources first.
Owners who need a confirmed carbon filter should not buy the Bosch or KHAWY picks, or either ACDelco pick, on a carbon assumption. Only the RVgolf 2-pack verifies carbon here; Bosch states no added odor neutralizer, KHAWY makes no carbon claim, and carbon is unconfirmed for both ACDelco picks.
Owners who have not checked their part number should not order yet. The CF185 and CF184 differ by one GM number, and that number decides the order. Check the old filter first. FAQ
What cabin air filter does a GMC Sierra use?
It depends on the generation. Newer trucks here use the CF11966 family, while 2014 to 2018 Sierra 1500 trucks and 2015 to 2019 HD trucks use the CF188 family with GM number 22808781, and 1999 to 2002 trucks use a different filter again. Check your year, trim and old filter part number against the fitment table before ordering.
Will the Bosch 6091C fit my Sierra 1500?
It fits Sierra 1500 trucks from 2019 to 2023 according to its listing, including the 2022 Limited, and HD trucks from 2020 to 2023. Trim may affect fitment even inside those years, so run the fit checker and compare the old filter. It does not fit older generations.
What is the difference between the ACDelco CF185 and CF184?
They are distinct original-equipment part numbers in the same CF11966 family: the CF185 carries GM number 13508023 and the CF184 carries GM number 13356914. No source here states that one supersedes the other, so do not merge or swap them. Order the number your truck specifies.
Which Sierra cabin filter has activated carbon?
In this guide, only the RVgolf CF11966 2-pack verifies activated carbon alongside HEPA media. Bosch states it adds no chemical odor neutralizer, KHAWY makes no carbon claim, and carbon is unconfirmed for either ACDelco pick.
How often should I replace my Sierra cabin filter?
Follow your owner’s manual first. Bosch listing wording says every 12 months or 12,000 miles or per the manual, while ACDelco general guidance notes up to 50,000 miles, more often on dirt roads. Shorten the interval on dusty roads, and record the date using our winch maintenance checklist.
Where is the cabin filter in a GMC Sierra?
On the newer trucks covered here, it is behind the glove box. The 2019 Sierra 1500 manual describes opening the lower glove box door completely, pressing the sides inward and rotating the door downward, while the 2019 HD manual describes removing screws around the lower glove box first. Follow your exact model-year procedure.
Does my 2007 to 2013 Sierra have a cabin filter?
Many trucks in this range shipped without a cabin filter, so do not assume one is fitted. Retrofit kits were made for 2007 to 2014 Silverado, Sierra, Tahoe, Suburban, Yukon and Escalade models that shipped without one, per the Vehicle Service Pros report in the sources. That retrofit is separate from a filter swap.
Why do dimensions differ between listings for the same filter family?
Because listings do not all report the same measurement, and some figures may reflect package size. The ACDelco listings here give larger figures than the Bosch and KHAWY listings for the same family, which is why they carry a caution. Measure the old filter before ordering.
Should I buy a 2-pack or a single filter?
A 2-pack suits an owner who wants a spare ready for the next change, and here the 2-pack is also the carbon option. A single filter suits a routine one-off replacement. Either way, confirm the part number first. Start from the Car Heating, Cooling and Comfort archive if you need the wider guide family.
