Jeep Winch

The best budget winch for Jeep Gladiator owners is the OPENROAD 12000 Panther Series 3S. It gives a Gladiator proper 12,000 lb headroom, synthetic rope, and wireless control for budget money. Also, it fits the standard bumper pattern. The X-BULL 13,000 runs close, however the OPENROAD package feels more complete. Disclosure: WinchInsider earns a commission

The TJ (1997–2006) is the lightest Wrangler of the modern era — roughly 3,100–3,800 lb at the curb, with the long-wheelbase LJ at the top of that range. At loaded weight × 1.5, most TJs honestly need 6,500–8,000 lb of winch, which makes this the one Jeep guide where the big-number winches are the wrong

The JK is a finished platform — production ended in 2018 — which makes its winch guide simpler and stricter than a current-model one: the winches have to fit a known range of bumpers and weights, and the JK-era favourites can be judged on a decade of owner evidence. Sizing splits by body: a 2-door

A budget Wrangler winch is a sizing decision before it is a price decision. A 2-door Wrangler (TJ, JK or JL) runs roughly 3,100–4,300 lb at the curb; a 4-door runs 4,100–4,900 lb — and at loaded weight × 1.5 those Jeeps need 8,000, 9,500 or 10,000 lb respectively, with 12,000 lb reserved for genuinely

The Gladiator is the Wrangler that weighs like a truck: roughly 4,650–5,400 lb at the curb and a GVWR around 5,800–6,250 lb, before the bed fills with the gear the bed exists for. Its sizing therefore sits a class above the two-door Wrangler’s: stock Gladiators size honestly at 10,000 lb, and built overland trucks —
